Parents slammed as 'lazy' for making 'pram tent' to entertain toddler when shopping

Trying to keep your children entertained whilst you go shopping can be quite the task.

But a couple who revealed how they keep their son occupied has been harshly criticised online.

The Liven family from New York has racked up more than 1.2 million followers on TikTok by sharing candid moments of their life.

But one of the recent videos that saw them show off their "stroller tent" has kicked up quite a fuss.

The parents demonstrated how they repurposed the pram for their son in the clip, which has since been viewed more than 5.6 million times when they take him shopping.

They drape a large blanket over the pram with him sitting inside and hand him an iPad which is attached to the front of the pram, which plays kids TV programmes.

But viewers were unsure of the idea, as many people said they're taken it too far.

"He has toys, Disney Plus and even snacks," the parents explained.

"Now we are ready to shop."

Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 800,000 likes and 6,500 comments from divided viewers.

One person said: "Or you could shop with your child, let it participate and not let it watch tv far too young."

Another commented: "As an educator, don’t do this too often… Best to engage and teach the kid things while shopping… this is just a bit lazy."

"I work with children who lock daily living and social skills and I can say that this is part of the problem," put a third.

But others rushed to defend the parents as one person put: "Why are people judging a mom for keeping her kid occupied with a movie while she shops?"

"So many people complain about kids running around in stores and crying really loud in public but also complain when the parent is trying to minimise it," put another viewer.

Whilst a third person said: "It's the people that AREN'T parents. They don't understand that we gotta do what we gotta do to keep our kids entertain in a store."
