Parents sent 'stranger danger' alert from Neath Port Talbot schools after suspicious activity

Parents in Neath and Port Talbot have received warnings from schools after suspicious behaviour was reported to the police.

South Wales Police said it had concerns after a man acting suspiciously was reported to officers on two separate occasions in the Port Talbot area.

The first report concerned a man acting suspiciously in the lane between Julian Terrace and Sandfields Road on October 17, at about 5pm.

The second incident involved a man acting suspiciously in the Vivian Park area on October 21, at about 6pm.

Since the occurrences, schools around the county have been asked to make parents aware of the activity and to try and reinforce the concept of 'stranger danger.'

Head teachers in Neath and Port Talbot's secondary and primary schools have been asked to send e-mails or text messages to parents to notify them of the activity.

The police are currently appealing for more information about the incidents.

How to talk to your children about stranger danger:

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: 'We are appealing for information regarding the behaviour of a man on two separate incidents in the Port Talbot area.

Although these two incidents may not be linked we are keen to hear from anyone else who may have seen a man acting suspiciously in these areas.

Anyone with information should contact 101, quoting occurrence 1900390795.'

A Neath Port Talbot Council spokesperson said: "Safeguarding is a priority for the council and as such we work closely with partner agencies to share ‘stranger danger’ messaging with our schools."
