Parents ordered to pay son $30,441 for throwing out his large porn collection

Under the Digital Economy Bill, internet service providers will be forced to block sites hosting content that would not be permitted for DVD sale by the BBFC

A couple have been ordered to pay $30,441 (£22,100) to their son after throwing out his large porn collection.

David Werking, 43, won a lawsuit against his parents eight months ago after saying they had no right to throw out his collection of films, magazines and other items.

U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney has now ordered his parents, from western Michigan, to cover the cost of the lost items.

The judge followed the value set by an expert, MLive.com reported.

Werking had lived at his parents’ home in Grand Haven for 10 months after a divorce.

He later moved to Muncie, Indiana, where he realised that his possessions were missing.

“Frankly, David, I did you a big favor getting rid of all this stuff,” his dad said in an email.

However, in his December ruling last year, Judge Maloney declared that there was “no question that the destroyed property was David’s property”.

Werking’s parents also must pay $14,500 to their son’s attorney.
