'Sex row' parents of nine-week-old baby GUILTY of causing or allowing his death

The parents of a two-month-old baby who died after being smothered and suffering broken ribs have been convicted of causing or allowing his death.

Luke Morgan, 26, and 22-year-old Emma Cole were also found guilty of child cruelty after a trial heard a "probable" bite mark was found on the arm of Tyler Morgan.

The infant's parents were cleared of his murder and manslaughter at Stafford Crown Court but convicted of the lesser charges by majority 11-1 verdicts.

The couple, from Burntwood, Staffordshire, had both denied playing any part in their son's death.

Tyler was pronounced dead in hospital after emergency services were called to the couple's home in April 2014.

It was claimed Morgan was angry because he wanted to have sex with Cole but could not do so because Tyler was still awake.

The prosecution alleged that Tyler was 'intentionally smothered or had his chest depressed'.

Sentencing has been adjourned until next month.
