Parents found dead in campervan after ‘tragedy’ at cider festival

• Christopher Coll, 45, and Kayleigh Coll, 38, a married couple and parents of four, were tragically found dead in their white Nissan van at the New Forest Cider Festival in October 2025.
• An inquest at Winchester Coroner’s Court determined their cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning, resulting from a leaky gas heater used inside their enclosed vehicle.
• Area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp concluded the deaths were a result of misadventure, noting the parabolic heater was not designed for indoor use and was not securely attached to its gas cylinder.
• The couple, who were stall traders selling copper wire trees, had used the heater due to the October chill, with Ms Coll's mother stating they made a "fatal mistake" as the van was not designed for overnight stays with heating.
• The coroner expressed deep sorrow for the "absolute tragedy " and announced plans to contact the heater's manufacturers to ensure adequate warnings are provided to prevent future deaths.
