Parents fined by police on Regent Road after children found not wearing seatbelt

The parents of two young children have been fined after their young children were found not to be wearing a seatbelt.

Police stopped 17 vehicles in the space of a couple of hours on Regent Road, in the city centre, on Wednesday afternoon.

Each driver was issued a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) for a range of driving offences. Twelve were for failing to wear a seatbelt.

Included in the stops, were the parents of two young children, who were not restrained in their seat properly.

They were given a TOR and will face a fine between £30 and £100.

In a post on Twitter, GMP Traffic said: "17 TOR’s were issued yesterday in a couple of hours on Regent Rd including 12 for no seatbelt.

"Two of these were issued to parents of small children (age 4 & 8) who were not restrained properly."
