Parents field more than 200 questions a week from their children, research has revealed.

A survey of 2,000 families found the most common questions asked were about animals, maths and spelling.

Most questions from children are prompted by conversations they have overheard, TV they have watched and what they are learning at school.

Parents also revealed the funniest and most obscure questions their children have asked them.

They include: “How many heads does a giraffe have?”, “If we go to Mars, will there be Mars Bars?” and “What is the biggest number?”

The most asked questions involved Father Christmas, including “how old is Father Christmas” and “who gives Santa presents?”

The survey was carried out by OnePoll for the newly-released Amazon Echo Dot Kids.

The speaker comes with either a panda or tiger design and is billed as a learning tool, allowing children “to have fun and learn with Alexa”.

To mark the launch, Made in Chelsea star Binky Felstead put the device to the test with daughter India.

“I’m a true advocate of utilising technology to get India excited to learn at home,” she said.
