Parents have been left worried and concerned about letting their kids play in a south Dublin playground after a knife was found sticking blade up hidden in the long grass.
The discovery at Kingswood Heights was made just touching distance away on the path to the popular playground which has been a saviour for bored kids during lockdown.
A local residents group warned mums and dads to keep an eye on the grounds around the playground as it is suspected that the blade was planted there purposely.
Posting a picture of the knife, they said: "Found at the playing pitches, just 20 feet away from the playground."
They added: "The blade was sticking up as the knife was planted into the ground."
In 2018, a similar warning was sent out to parents after a child fell on glass that was left smashed in the playground sandpit.
The child had been playing in the pit when they fell before a resident noticed the area was full of broken glass.
The local then cleared it up before letting local group Kingswood Heights Residents know to be vigilant when their kids are in playgrounds.
They said: "Mind your kids in the playground.
"A resident was in contact to say they were in the playground this morning and a child fell on glass in the sandpit and cut himself.
"After that, they found and cleared up glass in the sand pit and the bark, see photo.
"The playground is a great facility for young families in the area.
"The council empty bins and clean up twice a week, but it's in our interests to also keep it safe and clean for our young kids to use."
