Parents arrested after baby left with 'mushy skull' after horror 'beating'

A five-month-old baby is fighting for his life after allegedly being left with a "mushy skull" following an alleged beating by his parents.

Preston Klinglesmith and Victoria Walker are suspected of subjecting tiny Preston Jr to a shocking campaign of abuse.

The infant suffered multiple skull fractures and is currently being treated in hospital in Oklahoma in the US.

Medics said he was left with a "mushy skull" and bruises across his forehead.

He also had a bloody nose and hemorrhaging in his eye, according to reports in the US.

His dad has blamed this on a series of accidents, but police investigator Gary Knight said: "Clearly that's not what happened."

He continued: "The child was already suffering because of the medical condition, not being treated and to add insult to injury so to speak the child has to suffer this extreme abuse at the hands of these people."

Court documents obtained by News 9 state that Klinglesmith drove his son to hospital because he didn't want paramedics to think the family were "slobs" as their home was a mess.

The couple noticed his head was swelling, it is understood.

Both are charged with child neglect, while the dad is accused of child abuse by injury.

Doctors also found that the baby was severely underweight.
