'Parenting expert' sparks outrage by saying grandparents need consent before kissing children

A parenting expert sparked outrage with This Morning viewers today after suggesting that grandparents need consent before kissing their grandchildren.

Jane Evans appeared on the sofa alongside fellow mum Rebecca Jane to speak about Australia's new initiative regarding children giving consent to touching their bodies.

She told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford that the new initiative being rolled out was "actually simplistic".

Jane said: "We allow children to decide who can or can't touch their body - when, how, what, where, which is just to keep them safe."

She confirmed that the initiative involves everyone now, including grandparents.

"They have to ask permission," she said. "Children can't make that distinction, they just get the message."

However mum-of-two Rebecca blasted the initiative as "nonsense".

She said: "If we start having these boundaries with children [...] we're going to breed cold and emotionless children."

And it seems like most viewers agreed and flocked to Twitter to slam the parenting expert's remarks.

One tweeted: "If you're sexualising children kissing their grandparents and parents then there's something seriously wrong with you."

While another commented: "#ThisMorning should kids not kiss their grandparents??? PATHETIC."

A third remarked: "Mad Australians are at it again. Children need to consent to hugs and kisses from grandparents. Let’s have a future full of people who have zero affection for anyone #thismorning."

Another wrote: "For the love of god get this idiot off. Kissing your parents, grandparents etc is not a bloody crisis."

"Most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. If I want to give my baby a kiss then I will! I don’t see anything wrong with my little girl kissing her grandparents #thismorning," another fumed.
