A parent who dropped their child off at university started their very first day with a bang when they crashed their car into their halls of residence.
The incident took place at the student accommodation at the University of Warwick over the weekend.
Officers were called after a driver lost control of a black BMW estate and smashed into the window and wall of the university halls.
A photo posted on social media by Warwickshire Police' Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) show the car having knocked down some bricks and shattering a large glass window.
The force called it “one of the more embarrassing ways to drop your child off”.

They wrote: "Yesterday we attended a collision at the University of Warwick.
“Probably one of the more embarrassing ways to drop your child off for their first day of university by literally driving in to their halls of residence.”
“There were no injuries as a result of the collision.”
Social media users lamented how “mortifying” the ordeal would have been for the child.
One person wrote: “That would just be the most mortifying start to student life. That’s one way to announce your arrival at your new home.”
Another said: “Can you just imagine. That would be the most embarrassing thing ever, I would not have forgiven my rents if they had done that to me.”
A third person said: “That’s how eager they where to get rid of their children.”
