An ambulance service has warned Brits about a common face mask mistake that could spread bacteria, viruses and germs.

People must now wear a face covering in shopping centres, banks, takeaway outlets, sandwich shops and supermarkets under new regulations.

But East Midlands Ambulance Service has asked people to not make a common mistake when wearing a face covering.

"Make sure you either have it on or off - never around your chin or neck."

The graphic shows how when wearing a face covering, your chin becomes an 'exposed area'.

By pulling your mask down to your chin, you are contaminating the inside.
