Family pay tribute to paramedic killed in crash

A paramedic who died in a crash between a car and lorry was today named as grieving relatives said: "his family were his world".

The 38-year-old died at the scene of a crash involving his silver Land Rover and a HGV near the Posthouse Roundabout on the A55 near Chester on Tuesday.

Police said the Land Rover collided with the lorry in a layby on the westbound carriageway of the road.

Today police named the Chester father-of-two as James Burton as his family released a photograph and poignant tribute to a man with "a vibrant love of life".

In statement James' heartbroken family said: "James absolutely adored his family – his wife Sandra, daughter Macy, son Alfie, mum Janice, sister Sarah, her family and parents-in-law Beryl and Adrian were his world.

“He had a vibrant love of life which was infectious to all he met."

And they said he loved his job, helping others as a paramedic.

The family added: “Being a paramedic meant the world to James. He loved helping people in their time of need and his compassion, empathy and skill changed the lives of many.

“He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.”

The crash initially led to one lane of the road being closed, before a full closure was put into place at around 8am.
