A search for a missing St John WA paramedic at Cape Le Grand National Park has ended in tragedy.
Fiona Lavelle, 41, was found dead in the national park east of Esperance yesterday, after she went missing on Tuesday.
It is believed she had been intending to hike to Hellfire Bay.
Police found her vehicle, a Nissan Navara, in a car park on Cape Le Grand Road that night.
An image of Ms Lavelle and her car was distributed by police yesterday morning, before her body was discovered later in the day.
"Police conducting a search for a missing hiker within Cape Le Grand National Park have located the 41-year-old woman deceased," police posted on social media yesterday afternoon.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Tuesday was the hottest day the Esperance region had seen in almost a year, with temperatures hitting 43.9 degrees in town.
Ms Lavelle was usually based in Perth, but the paramedic had recently been filling in at St John WA in Norseman.
A St John WA spokesperson said it was focused on supporting its people following the tragedy.
"The St John community is deeply saddened by the events which unfolded today," the spokesperson said.
"Our thoughts are with the family and colleagues of our team member.
"We offer our thanks to WA Police, the State Emergency Service and all those who participated in the search."
It was the second time Esperance Police were called to the park this week, after they helped find a man lost at Frenchman's Peak on Saturday.
