Paramedic dies from coronavirus Scottish Ambulance Service confirms

A Scottish paramedic has died from Covid-19.

The sad news was revealed this morning by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

The man - who worked in the west region - passed away in hospital yesterday after contracting the virus.

Chief executive Pauline Howie said: “On behalf of everyone at SAS, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the family.

"Our focus will be on supporting them during this very difficult time.”

Ms Howie added that out of respect for the man's family, no further details will be provided at this time.
