Boccia star Steph McGuire has set his sights on a big win over Colombia's Euclides Grisales tomorrow after recording his first triumph at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
McGuire beat Japan's Shun Esaki 3-2 this morning in their group stages game, having lost his BC4 opener 4-1 against Hong Kong's Wong Kwan Hang on Saturday morning.
The 37-year-old says a convincing win over the Colombian on Monday should see him through, and is upbeat about his chances.
McGuire said: "The pressure was on for me to get back to winning ways after losing yesterday’s match.
"I was also playing the home favourite which is always tough.
"It was a very difficult match, very close match.

"Hopefully a win tomorrow by three or four points would take me through – that’s the target.
“But it’s a privilege to be here back doing what we love.
"It’s been 20 months since I’ve competed so it’s fantastic to see so many athletes in a great arena. I’m loving it!"
McGuire yesterday paid tribute to his opponent after Wong Kwan Hang won their group match comfortably, and said: “Athletes from Hong Kong are always going to provide a tough test. I have to applaud Wong for playing the perfect game.
"From my perspective, there are positives to take. I created chances but I need to be more clinical with angles."
