As the entry of foreign athletes and officials for the Tokyo Paralympic Games gets into full swing, measures at Narita Airport are being put to the test.
On Monday, about 50 members of the Australian Paralympic delegation, including medical personnel, arrived at the airport in Chiba Prefecture.
As with foreign Olympic delegations, the Paralympians underwent antigen tests and used a separate route as they made their way through the airport.
Out of consideration for athletes in wheelchairs, measures implemented for the Paralympics include the installation of ramps to create step-free routes, widened aisles and disinfectant dispensers at lower heights.
According to the Cabinet Secretariat, about 180 people involved in the Paralympics will enter Japan this week from 14 countries, mostly through Narita and Haneda Airport.
