Twelve coronavirus cases were confirmed Friday among people involved in the Tokyo Paralympics, including one athlete, the Games organizing committee said.
The Games are scheduled to start on Tuesday.
The foreign athlete, who had not stayed at the athletes' village in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, was the first Paralympian to test positive in Japan.
A day earlier, the organizing committee announced that a person staying at the athletes' village had tested positive for the virus. It was the first coronavirus case found at the athletes' village since it opened for the Paralympics on Tuesday.
The person had been in Japan for less than 14 days.
