Par Equity founder and venture capitalist Paul Atkinson has become chairman of Edinburgh-based PR consultancy Clark Communications after investing in the business.
Atkinson, who has built companies in the tech and professional services sectors, became a client of Clark Communications when he acquired Change Recruitment Group in May 2017 and formed the Taranata Group. He said he was keen to help grow the business after being impressed by its strategic approach, expertise and emphasis on employee engagement.
He becomes a shareholder alongside founder and managing director Lesley Brydon, and director Angela Hughes.
Atkinson said: “Communications is a sector which still has huge opportunity for growth, especially into the technology and innovation areas. Clark Communications has demonstrated consistent success, which I witnessed as a client, and so I am thrilled to be joining the team as chairman to help accelerate plans for growth.”
In 2019, Clark Communications, which also provides digital and design services and has an office in Glasgow, won the contract for internal and external communications requirements at Menzies Aviation, and the PR contract for Edinburgh BioQuarter after a competitive tender. Other clients include the Institute of Directors, Seafood Scotland, Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited and Virgin Money.
