Papua New Guinea earthquake: 6.2 magnitude quake strikes east of Rabaul

An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 struck off the Pacific Ocean nation of Papua New Guinea on Monday, the US Geological Survey said.

There were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries from the quake, which struck 125 km (78 miles) east of the town of Rabaul, at a depth of 70 km (44 miles).

There were also no immediate warnings posted to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
