DEHRADUN: The STF, in its ongoing probe in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) question paper leak case, arrested an additional private secretary posted at the state secretariat on Wednesday evening.
This is the first arrest made in the case from the secretariat. STF also nabbed Tushar Chauhan from Jaspur, US Nagar, on the day. He allegedly took the exam and secured 163rd rank after going through the leaked paper. So far, 15 people, including five government employees, have been arrested. Ajay Singh, senior superintendent of police (SSP), STF, said, “Gaurav Chauhan was called in for questioning earlier in the day, after STF got to know about his involvement through two accused. Chauhan is accused of selling question paper to two examinees for Rs 15 lakh each. Of the total Rs 30 lakh he received, he was given Rs 6 lakh in advance.”
As for Tushar Chauhan, he got the leaked question paper from Manoj Joshi, a junior assistant at the local Jaspur court who has been already arrested by STF. He is accused of helping at least four examinees in solving the leaked question paper at a resort in Ramnagar, a night before the exam on December 4. “Joshi had told police that Tushar and he helped at least four examinees in solving the leaked question paper at a resort in Ramnagar. The examinees had bought the question paper from them for Rs 15 lakh each. Based on his confession, police gathered evidence against Tushar and nabbed him. He was then questioned on the allegations levelled against him. He confessed to them after which he was arrested on Wednesday,” said Singh.
The SSP informed that Tushar and Joshi came in contact through a third person who is yet to be nabbed.
