The Middlesborough Evening Gazette has teamed up with the University of Teesside to launch a degree course in multimedia journalism. It will be run from the paper's new digital newsroom. Gazette editor Darren Thwaites describes it as one of the most exciting developments in journalism training for years, while the university's head of media, Christa van Raalte, says: "The new degree brings together traditional journalism skills and the latest developments in news production."
