Paolo Nutini stuns Scots charity workers after joining fundraising hill walk

Paolo Nutini has left Scottish charity workers shocked after joining in to cheer them on at the top of Conic Hill.

The Catherine McEwan Foundation are currently walking the West Highland Way to raise money for those suffering from Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis. However, the fundraisers were left speechless after the Pencil Full Of Lead singer joined in to cheer them on at the end of their first day.

In a post on their Facebook page, the charity said: "First day for our "West Highland Ravers" complete! A tough 30 miles under their belts. Incredible efforts all round topped off by the legend, Paulo Nutini cheering us on up the Conic! As always thanks for the donations! You are making a huge difference to our patients and families battling Crohn's & Colitis..."

A group of 16 are hiking the iconic West Highland Way from 1-5 September in their #CMFCHALLENGE2022. The Paisley born singer is a long-term support of the Catherine McEwan Foundation, and has previously donated TRNSMT tickets, meet and greet opportunities and even a chippy dinner from his family's restaurant to support them.

The foundation was set up in honour of Catherine McEwan who died in 1992 at the age of 37 after a battle with Crohn's. The charity was set up in 2003 by her son Derek who wants to help every member of a member of the family not just the patient suffering.

Derek told Glasgow Live : "We do a lot of challenges and this one isn't as extreme as some of them but it's not easy! So we had walked 20-odd miles on day one and got to the top of Conic Hill and there was Paolo! He was amazing, so supportive and encouraging of us all, he took the time to talk to everyone.

"He has been a big supporter of our charity in the last few years through mutual friends so it was great to have the chance to thank him in person- he was so genuine and told me to get in touch any time there is anything he can do to help us in the future.

"It gave us a big lift after a long hard day so thank you again Paolo. We are on this walk for the next few days so if you're along the way come and say hello and feel free to sponsor or donate too."
