Paolo Nutini Belfast gig announced as Scots call for concert closer to home

Paolo Nutini has announced another UK date and Scots are calling for one a bit closer to home.

Despite playing TRNSMT festival this July, fans want another Scottish date to make up for the Paisley star's musical hiatus.

The Pencil Full of Lead singer has been off the grid for the last eight years as his last album, Caustic Love, was released back in 2014.

He appeared at the Paisley Abbey in 2017 to perform at a charity-led concert for Syrian refugees, and has done several gigs here and there - but hasn't toured the UK since 2015.

So today when he announced today that he will be playing in Belfast this August, fans quickly flocked to the comments.

He posted: "Belfast - Thursday 25th August Pre-sale tickets on sale Weds 6th April 9AM. General sale Fri 8th April 9AM."

One fan said: "Any chance on a UK tour mate or."

Another added: "He’s getting closer."

While one wrote: "I sense more dates to come."

While another chimed in: "where tf is the Scottish dates ?! See u in Belfast."

The 'New Shoes' singer hadn't been active on any social media since August 2019 but recently his Instagram feed has been filled with new tour dates including a tour around Italy, supporting Liam Gallagher at Knebworth and of course, TRNSMT.

The 35-year-old was recently spotted out at a Glasgow eatery and as he stopped to pose for selfies with fans, he hinted that there might be new music to come.

Paolo, 35, popped into the rustic Shawlands restaurant sporting a pair of sunnies and a casual jeans and jumper combo as he enjoyed the rare glimpse at the Scottish sunshine.

The Paisley-born singer told fans he is "working hard" on his new album
