Pantry Alert: Why You Need to Check This Popular Wegmans Snack Mix Right Now

Wegmans is practically a sanctuary for many of us. Between the immaculate produce section and the coffee bar, it is the one grocery trip we actually enjoy. But this week, a serious health alert is disrupting that peace of mind. Health officials have issued a recall for a specific type of mixed nuts that might be sitting in your pantry right now.

If you have visited Wegmans recently to stock up for holiday parties, you need to check your labels immediately. The grocer has pulled specific batches of their Deluxe Mixed Nuts due to Salmonella contamination. Here is exactly what you need to look for to keep your family safe during this busy season.

The Problem in the Pistachios

The recall focuses on Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts (Unsalted). Unlike the previous fears about bulk bins, this issue is strictly with the packaged tubs and bags. Routine supplier testing discovered Salmonella in the raw pistachios used in the mix, triggering the immediate pull from shelves.

While no illnesses have been reported yet (which is great news), you don’t want to be the first case. Salmonella is nothing to mess with, especially when you have a bowl of nuts out for guests who might be unknowingly snacking on bacteria along with their cashews and almonds.

Check Your Lot Codes

You need to look for two specific package sizes sold between November 3 and December 1, 2025. Grab the container and flip it over to check the details:

  • 34 oz Tubs

  • 11.5 oz Bags

Specifically, look for Lot Codes 58041 or 58171. If your container matches these numbers, do not open it. If you have already transferred the nuts to a decorative holiday bowl and can’t check the code, the safest bet is to toss them.

Why Salmonella is Serious

We often brush off food recalls, but Salmonella can ruin your holidays fast. Symptoms usually start within 12 to 72 hours and include fever, diarrhea, nausea, and severe abdominal pain.

For healthy adults, it is miserable. But for children, the elderly, or anyone with a compromised immune system, the infection can be severe and even require hospitalization. Since this snack is a holiday staple often shared with extended family, the risk of exposing a vulnerable relative is higher than usual.

Getting Your Refund

Wegmans is handling this proactively. If you have the affected product, you can return it to the service desk for a full refund—no questions asked. They are prioritizing customer safety, so don’t feel awkward about bringing back an open or half-eaten container.

Take five minutes to scan your pantry today. It is a small inconvenience that ensures your holiday gathering stays festive and safe.

Do you usually check lot codes on food recalls, or do you just toss it to be safe? Tell us your strategy in the comments!
