Panto star Twink tells how she lost neighbour and former colleague to 'damn virus'

Panto star Twink has revealed that a friend of hers passed away after contracting coronavirus.

Twink shared the sad news while chatting to Muireann O'Connell and Martin King on Wednesday's Six O'Clock Show on Virgin Media.

She and her singer songwriter daughter Chloe Agnew, joined the hosts via video chat to speak about what life has been like since the outbreak.

Twink, whose real name is Adele King, said: "One of the reasons I haven't done press or interviews is cause I said to the girls one night, 'I'm actually not going to do it because I'd be really embarrassed to say that I'm having a lovely time'."

She added: "I have lost a neighbour and a very good old television colleague to this damn virus.

"My dear manager, his wife died. That is the first funeral I would have been at in the whole world because they were like parents to me in Vegas.

"So the downside of it has been bloody awful for everyone.

"But hey, we're entertainers and we're here to bring the uplifting side."

And she told how she's taken up sketching to entertain herself while in lockdown.

Twink said: "I have always done other crafts and I would usually sketch a brief outline of what I wanted to make.

“I had always thought of it as a means to an end rather than an art in itself.

“I never sketched just to sketch. I was in the kitchen a while back and I was sketching a cake as a guide for when I would make it.

“I was watching Prime Time and there was an interesting topic on so I stayed at it longer, sketching away and colouring it in."

Meanwhile, Chloe told how she took up a new instrument - the Mitchell Drum - but the noise terrified her mother who thought an intruder was in the house!
