Panti Bliss becomes latest celebrity to be booted off RTE's Dancing With The Stars

Panti Bliss shimmied off the dance floor for the final time as she became the latest celebrity booted from Dancing With Stars.

The drag queen legend - aka Rory O'Neill - ended up in the bottom two with former Eurovision singer Brooke Scullion.

Panti Bliss and Denys Samson danced a quirky American Smooth to Bjork’s classic hit It’s Oh So Quiet, scoring 27 points earlier in the night, while Brooke and her pro dance partner Robert Rowinski fought hard for their place in the semi-final.

But it wasn't meant to be for Panti and Denys and the pair were sent home in Sunday night's quarter finals.

Speaking after leaving the show, Panti paid tribute to Brooke and Denys, adding she "loved" Brooke with "all my heart".

Denys thanked everyone for their support, paying tribute to Panti saying: "She's amazing".

Brooke and Robert opened the show with a "powerful" tango, with judge Brian Redmond praising the dance, saying the pair "covered a lot of ground" in the tango, adding it was "very fiery".

They initially scored 28 points, leaving viewers shocked to see them also in the dance off against Panti and Denys.

Brooke and Robert join Kevin McGahern and Laura Nolan, Carl Mullan and Emily Barker, Suzanne Jackson and Michael Danilczuk and Damian McGinty and Kylee Vincent in next week's semi-finals as the celebrities get closer to lifting the glitterball trophy.

Earlier in the night, Kevin McGahern and Laura Nolan impressed audiences with their fast paced Salsa to Stay with Me by Calvin Harris feat. Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams and Halsey.

They scored 23 points for their dance.

Carl Mullan and Emily Barker put on a lively performance of the Charleston to the song Bills by LunchMoney Lewis, despite Carl suffering a fall off the table during rehearsals during the week.

The pair scored 28 points, which included Carl's first ten of the season. It was also revealed Carl has gone through eight pairs of dancing shoes since starting the show, with the 2FM Breakfast host joking that he keeps "busting" the soles.

Brian said the dance "suited" Carl's personality, saying it was his best dance so far of the series.

"Well done and a bit like that table, I think you smashed it."

Loraine Barry added the dance was an "excellent performance from both of you."

Glee star Damian McGinty and his partner Kylee Vincent took on a "regal" foxtrot to the song Don’t Let The Lights Go Out by Panic! At The Disco, with Loraine saying it was "an unusually dark and dreamy foxtrot".

Arthur Gourounlian said his dance was very "mysterious", adding that it was the right decision that Damian signed up for the show.

But Brian said he didn't think his dance was his best, saying the star was making "clunky errors".

The pair scored 25 points.

Last to take to the dance floor was influencer Suzanne Jackson and her pro dance partner Michael Danilczuk.

They performed a sultry rumba to Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray and scored 30 points. It was the highest ever score for a rumba on the show.

Suzanne said afterwards that the song was special to her as it was her and her husband Dillon's wedding song.

"This was our wedding song, I just love it," she said.

Brian said Suzanne said she had "legs to die for", adding her leg movement was "pretty much perfect", while Loraine said Suzanne's rumba was a "masterclass" saying she passed with "first class honours".

And Arthur said Suzanne was prowling like "a panther" on the dance floor, saying it was a "golden performance."

Last night also saw the return of the team dances.

Former glitterball trophy champions Jake Carter and Lottie Ryan went head to head with their teams.

The first team was made up of, Eurovision star, Brooke Scullion and her partner Robert Rowiński, singer and Glee actor, Damian McGinty and his partner Kylee Vincent and, drag queen, Panti Bliss and her partner Denys Samson – known as the ‘HandClap Hustlers’ and were joined by captain, Jake Carter and his partner Karen Byrne. They danced to the song, ‘HandClap’ by Fitz and the Tantrums.

The second team consisted of, 2fm presenter, Carl Mullan and his partner Emily Barker, comedian, Kevin McGahern and his partner Laura Nolan and, TV presenter and influencer, Suzanne Jackson and her partner Michael Danilczuk – known as the ‘Disco Dazzlers’ and were on the floor captained by Lottie Ryan with Stephen Vincent. They danced to the song, ‘Crying At the Discotheque’ by Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Lottie's team won by one point, scoring 28 points, while Jake's team were awarded 27 points.

Next week, the show airs its semi-finals with only five celebrities and their partners left to fight for the glitterball trophy.
