Panthers WR Robby Anderson annoyed by clips of Jets QBs missing him

Panthers wide receiver Robby Anderson’s catch rate in the NFL is only 54.2%. Numbers can be deceiving, though.

Anderson is one of the league’s best deep threats. Trouble is, he’s suffered from relatively poor quarterback play most of his career. Since the Jets drafted him in 2016, he’s been catching passes from the likes of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith, Bryce Petty, Josh McCown, Luke Falk and Sam Darnold. Not exactly a murderer’s row of deep ball throwers.

Today on Twitter, Anderson shared an annoyed-face emoji when Ian Hartitz at Pro Football Focus shared a clip of various Jets quarterbacks missing him when he was open.

Things should be looking up for Anderson this year.

While Teddy Bridgewater isn’t going to get confused with Patrick Mahomes, he’s much better in this department than most people think and certainly an upgrade over Darnold. Last season, Darnold only connected on 27.27% of his throws of 20+ yards. Meanwhile, Bridgewater hit 46.7% of his.

If Anderson can improve his ability to make contested catches, he’s going to eat in this offense.
