Panthers Week 1 injury report: Trai Turner (groin) limited

We have our first official Panthers injury report of the 2019 NFL season.

The good news is that starting quarterback Cam Newton still appears to be on track to play against the Rams on Sunday. He was a full participant at today’s practice and is not on the report. On the downside, rookie offensive tackle Greg Little is still out with his concussion. Veteran linebacker Bruce Irvin also missed practice with his hamstring issue.

Here’s a review of the full report.

Player Injury Wed Thu Fri Status
OT Greg Little Concussion DNP DNP
LB Bruce Irvin Hamstring DNP DNP
G Trai Turner Groin Limited

In related news, tight end Greg Olsen missed Monday’s practice for reasons that are unclear. Coach Ron Rivera refused to comment when he was asked by the media if it was a health-related issue. His absence from the injury report probably indicates it’s no big deal even if it is.

Update:

Pro Bowl guard Trai Turner was added to the injury report on Thursday with a groin injury. Coach Ron Rivera says limiting his reps was just precautionary, so he should be good to go Sunday.
