Panthers vs. Eagles 2021 odds: Carolina opens as 3.5-point favorites

A 36-28 loss to the Dallas Cowboys didn’t do too much harm to the public perception of the Carolina Panthers. It wasn’t enough, at least, to push this upcoming spread any lower.

Initial odds set by Tipico Sportsbook on Monday have the 3-1 Panthers as 3.5-point favorites over the 1-3 Philadelphia Eagles for their clash on Sunday. Carolina will host the Week 5 matchup from Bank of America Stadium, where they’re 2-0 on the campaign.

Philadelphia flies in having lost each of their last three games. A season-opening win over the Atlanta Falcons has now been buried under a 17-11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, a 41-21 loss to the Cowboys and the recent 42-30 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs.

They’ll be looking to snap the skid behind second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts. Hurts currently leads the Eagles as both a passer (obviously) and a rusher, as he’s totaled 1,393 yards and eight touchdowns through four games.

Carolina, who will try to avoid entering a skid of their own, counters with a defense looking to shake off a beating in Arlington, Texas. The unit still ranks third in yards (251.5) and points (16.5) allowed per game.
