Panthers VP of Football Operations Steven Drummond resigns

A nearly two-decade run in the Carolina Panthers organization has come to an end.

As announced by the team on Wednesday morning, Vice President of Football Operations Steven Drummond has resigned from his position. He said the following in a statement released by the Panthers on his behalf:

“With the changes this offseason, this seemed like a good time to transition to other interests. I have enjoyed my time with the Panthers and appreciate the opportunities they gave me. I will continue to root for their success.”

Drummond joined the franchise back in 2005 as the assistant director of communications, directly following a three-year stint as the communications coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’d then proceed to rise through the ranks during his 18 years in Carolina–serving in numerous roles including the director of communications, director of communications and digital media and vice president of communications and external affairs.

He was promoted to his latest post, as vice president of football operations, in January of 2021.

Per the team’s release, Drummond is now working on his MBA at the University of North Carolina.
