Panthers veteran Greg Olsen ranks No. 2 at tight end in yards per catch

Greg Olsen was one of the most productive and consistent tight ends in the NFL from 2012-2016. Injuries slowed him down the last two seasons, though. Olsen was only able to play in half of Carolina’s games and his numbers fell off a cliff.

However, now that Olsen is healthy, he’s back to performing at a relatively high level again. According to NFL Matchup on ESPN, Olsen ranks second among tight ends in yards per catch at 12.6. Only Travis Kelce of the Chiefs is averaging more.

So far, Olsen has caught 18 of 29 targets, totaling 226 yards and two touchdowns. Remember, Cam Newton missed Olsen several times when he was playing hurt Weeks 1-2, so his stats could be even better.

Olsen wasn’t able to do much against Houston on Sunday, though. The Texans defense held him to just two catches and five yards.
