Panthers signing WR Matt Landers to practice squad

The Carolina Panthers couldn’t get the win in Seattle this past Sunday. That, however, didn’t stop them from taking back a piece of the Seahawks with them . . . well, sorta.

As reported by Darin Gantt of Panthers.com on Tuesday evening, the team is signing wide receiver Matt Landers to their practice squad. Landers was a member of the Seahawks’ practice squad up until this past week, when he was released on Sept. 20.

The St. Petersburg, Fla. native played his college career—which lasted from 2017 to 2022—between the University of Georgia, the University of Toledo and the University of Arkansas. Over four seasons, he reeled in a total of 79 receptions for 1,547 yards and 14 touchdowns.

An intriguing prospect at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds and a 40-yard time of 4.37 seconds, Landers signed with the Seahawks after going undrafted this past spring. He’d go on to record three catches, 40 yards and a touchdown during preseason play.

Landers was one of five players to work out for the Panthers on Tuesday. He will now fill the vacancy on the practice squad left behind by quarterback Jake Luton, who was signed by the New Orleans Saints.
