Panthers sign two former AAF tight ends

The Panthers signed two former AAF tight ends on Tuesday, bringing their roster to the maximum 90 players for the offseason.

Tight ends Marcus Baugh and Cole Hunt played for the San Diego Fleet and the San Antonio Commanders, respectively. Baugh was among the top tight end receivers of the AAF, catching 13 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns before the league folded. Hunt had two catches for 13 yards in eight games.

They may not make the 53-man roster, but it does allow for further depth in the preseason, and one or both players could make a bid for the practice squad.

At the moment, the team’s tight end room consists of Greg Olsen, Ian Thomas, Thomas Duarte, Jason Vander Laan and Chris Manhertz.
