Panthers sign former Packers guard Kofi Amichia

The Carolina Panthers have signed former Green Bay Packers guard Kofi Amichia, according to the team website. Amichia was sixth-round pick by Green Bay in the 2017 NFL draft. He spent his first year on the Packers practice squad and then was signed to a futures deal.

Amichia (6-foot-3, 304 pounds) was cut by Green Bay just before the 2018 season started. The Baltimore Ravens picked him up the next month and stashed him on their practice squad. Baltimore cut him two weeks ago.

As of yet, Amichia has not played in a live NFL game.

To make room for Amichia on the roster, the Panthers waived guard Landon Turner with a non football illness. According to Joe Person at the Athletic, Turner is recovering from a recent appendectomy.

Amichia might not be guaranteed a roster spot. He can help his chances by out-competing guys like Dorian Johnson and Taylor Hearn.
