Panthers S Eric Reid understands he probably will be fined for late hit on Ben Watson

Panthers safety Eric Reid put a late hit on Patriots tight end Ben Watson in last night’s preseason loss.

After the game, Reid said coach Ron Rivera told him it was late and he trusts Rivera’s judgment.

Eric Reid on his hit on Ben Watson: "I was just trying to make sure I stopped him before he got to the first down. I talked to Ron (Rivera). He told me it was late. I’ll look at the film, (but) if Ron said it was late I believe him."

Reid says he was unaware of Watson’s criticism of his comments about Jay-Z’s partnership with the NFL. He also understands he will probably get fined for it.

On Ben Watson situation, Eric Reid said:
-Had not seen Watson‘s criticism of Reid’s Jay-Z comments.
-Was trying to keep Watson from getting to the first down marker.
-Understands he probably will be fined for the late hit.

We like Reid’s game, but this was not a good look.
