Panthers rookie OL Dennis Daley learning to play 4 positions

Panthers sixth-round pick Dennis Daley was drafted with the idea of adding depth at the left tackle position behind Daryl Williams and Greg Little.

Daley may turn out to have a different role, though.

Apparently, Daley has been getting a lot more put on his plate. He’s also learning right tackle, left guard and right guard, meaning he is preparing to play every offensive line position except center.

The Panthers clearly envision Daley as someone who can serve as a backup at several different positions. This is a good idea, as backup center Tyler Larsen is probably the only other offensive lineman on the roster who has the same ability.

At Fan Fest on Friday, Trai Turner was given an off day and Daley received first-team reps at right guard. For what it’s worth, on the team’s first official depth chart, he’s listed as the second-team right guard behind Turner.
