Panthers request permission to interview Eagles VP of football operations Andrew Berry for front office position

The Cleveland Browns appear to have some competition for the services of Andrew Berry, as Adam Schefter is reporting that the Carolina Panthers have requested permission to interview the Eagles vice president of player personnel.

According to Schefter, the Panthers are interested in Berry for the role he currently has with the Eagles.

The Panthers recently hire former Baylor head coach Matt Rhule to the same position and Carolina owner, David Tepper would like to improve his front office.

Berry was hired by Howie Roseman and the Eagles after previously serving as the Cleveland Browns’ vice president of player personnel. With his specialty being analytics Berry is viewed by many as an up-and-coming talent in the NFL.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com is reporting that Berry will be the Haslam’s first choice, referring to the owner’s special relationship with the former Browns executive.

Ian Rapoport is reporting that Berry will interview with the Browns this week, while there’s no word on whether he’ll accept the Panthers offer for an interview.
