Panthers release Da’Norris Searcy, Isaiah Battle

The Carolina Panthers have released a pair of veterans Monday, parting ways with safety Da’Norris Searcy and offensive tackle Isaiah Battle, the team announced.

As Jordan Rodrigue of the Charlotte Observer notes below, Searcy dealt with multiple concussions during the 2018 seasons that limited him to just two games played before landing on injured reserve. He totaled just five tackles in those two games.

Cutting Searcy saves over $1.7 million in cap space and leaves just $650,000 in dead money.

Battle has bounced around the NFL since being selected in the fifth round of the 2016 supplemental draft by the then-St. Louis Rams. After time spent with the Rams, Chiefs and Seahawks, Battle signed a reserve/future contract with the Panthers after the 2018 season.
