Panthers RB Miles Sanders on leaving Eagles: Maybe you should ask them

Miles Sanders didn’t have the happiest of endings to his career in Philadelphia. So, he’s looking for a better start elsewhere.

The new Carolina Panthers running back spoke during this week’s installment of organized team activities, where he harkened back to his time as an Eagle. Sanders, per Steve Reed of the Associated Press, expressed a bit of frustration with how he was (or wasn’t) used in the Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Last game of the season? For all of the marbles? Everybody can answer that question,” said Sanders, who totaled seven rushing attempts in the big game. “If they put themselves in my shoes, would they be happy? I don’t want to make headlines, (but) if it does, I don’t care.”

Sanders did, however, clarify that his lack of burn on the night of Feb. 12 wasn’t the reason why he left Philly.

“I can get into that another day, maybe,” Sanders added. “Maybe you should ask them why I’m moving here.”

The 26-year-old moved to Carolina on a four-year, $25.4 million deal this offseason. So maybe that, and the $13 million in guarantees, is a reason why he’s in Charlotte now.

Another pull might be the fact that the Panthers, as stated by head coach Frank Reich on Wednesday, view him as an every-down back. Sanders is fresh off a career campaign, one where he rushed for highs in yards (1,269) and touchdowns (11), and is the clear lead dog in his new backfield.

Hey—when opportunity (and a bunch of money) knocks, you answer it.
