Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is fast—in multiple senses of the word.
On Sunday, the star rusher became the fastest player in NFL history to amass 3,000 career rushing yards and 3,000 career receiving yards. Soundly enough, in a manner that seemed all too satisfying, his record-setting reception came on the game-tying 27-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cam Newton in the fourth quarter.

Similarly to Newton’s return to Bank of America Stadium, McCaffrey’s moment was partially soiled by the Panthers’ eventual 27-21 loss to the Washington Football Team. Nonetheless, some eye-opening history was made.
He has now bested the previous mark set by New Orleans Saints rusher Alvin Kamara, who needed 66 games to hit that dual total. McCaffrey needed 57.
Those 57 games, on an additional note, has also seen McCaffrey reel in 357 receptions. That is the third-highest amount through that many games in league history—trailing only the Saints’ Michael Thomas (415) and the Los Angeles Rams’ Odell Beckham Jr. (382).
So, yes, the do-it-all back continues to, well, do it all.
