Panthers OT Marshall Newhouse says he was randomly drug tested in his own home

The NFL season may be over, but the league can still randomly drug test players throughout the calendar year, apparently even in their own homes. Panthers offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse got a first-hand reminder of that fact today.

In a post on his personal Twitter account, Newhouse says that he was tested for drugs at his house today. He called it undignified and awkward.

Carolina traded for Newhouse in September, sending a conditional future draft pick to the Bills in exchange. Newhouse did not get much playing time with the Panthers. He only started two games late in the year after first-string left tackle Chris Clark had become a total liability.

Newhouse of course isn’t the only Carolina player to take issue with the league’s drug testing methods. Eric Reid claims he was randomly tested seven times during the regular season and has added it to his collusion case file.
