Panthers OT Daryl Williams a target for Giants in free agency

New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman likes his “hog mollies” and his quest to build this team from the inside out is far from over. That is why it won’t be surprising if they are in pursuit of any and all big bodies this offseason.

Among other free agent options, Carolina Panthers right tackle Daryl Williams, who Gettleman – as the general manager of the Panthers – drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, could be a name to keep an eye on when the new league year begins.

Though the Giants are limited in salary cap space this offseason, they will be looking to improve the offensive line. Should they use free agency as a way to do that, Williams is an option for the right side of the line.

We ourselves have mentioned the 6’6″, 330-pound Williams as a possibility for Big Blue this March in free agency. He naturally would have to pass a physical after tearing his MCL and dislocating his knee cap during training camp.

But if right, he can bolster the Giants’ line big time, giving them the quality right tackle they’ve been needing the past few seasons. At 26 years old, Williams could be a piece of the line for the next few campaigns.

Williams was named a Second-Team All-Pro for the 2017 season. He would be an immediate upgrade for the Giants, who again find themselves in the market for offensive line help. Williams would be the immediate starter while giving Big Blue a solid duo of veteran offensive tackles.

The new league year begins March 13 and with a need to improve the offensive line, Williams is an option for the Giants.
