Panthers open 3.5-point favorites vs. Titans for Week 9 matchup

The Panthers got a rude awakening in Santa Clara on Sunday, losing to the 49ers by 38 points. They’ll have a chance to rebound at home this week against a non-conference opponent in the Titans.

According to BetMGM, they have a slight edge. Carolina is currently a 3.5-point favorite for Sunday’s matchup.

The Titans are riding a two-game winning streak after making a change at quarterback. Ryan Tannehill has replaced Marcus Mariota in the starting lineup and has brought some life to what was a moribund offense. They beat the Chargers and the Buccaneers by a total of seven points, but both games were at home. Tennessee is 2-2 on the road this season.

What may decide this one more than anything else is the Panthers’ run defense. They just got gashed on the ground by Tevin Coleman and the Niners and the Titans are another run-heavy team led by the league’s most powerful rusher, Derrick Henry.

There’s not much history between these teams. Carolina has won two of five matchups with the Titans, including their last meeting in 2015.
