Panthers officially sign free agent center Matt Paradis to 3-year deal

Centers don’t make for big free agency splashes. They help you win games, though. The Carolina Panthers have officially announced the signing of free agent center and former Denver Broncos lineman Matt Paradis. Paradis was first reported to be intending to sign with the club by Adam Schefter at ESPN on Tuesday.

Since then, we’ve learned a lot about Paradis and how he’ll fit in Carolina. First, his contract is reportedly worth $27 million over three years.

Here’s how Over the Cap breaks down his new deal:

In a statement, general manager Marty Hurney called Paradis a smart, tough player.

“Matt gives us an established starter at a critical position on the offensive line. . . He’s a smart, tough player with good feet, good instincts and a good feel for the position.”

Paradis will take Ryan Kalil’s place at center. Tyler Larsen will be his first backup.
