Throughout his 12-year NFL career, Andy Dalton has at times been seen as a quarterback who borderlines franchise QB status without being worthy of being named among the league’s elite passers.
Ask the new Panthers signee’s running back, though, and you’ll get a different picture.
While speaking on the Mac and Bone Podcast on WFNZ, new Carolina running back Miles Sanders expressed how he holds Dalton, who was brought in to mentor No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young, in high regards.
Just how high?
Think Canton, Ohio.
“We’ve got a very, very good young quarterback that’s being mentored by a very, very, very good quarterback, future Hall of Famer, Andy Dalton,” Sanders said.
Dalton, who has spent time with the Bengals, Cowboys, Bears, Saints, currently sits 24th all-time among all signal callers in passing yards (38,150). The 35 year-old quarterback has compiled a solid record of 86-78-2 as a starter in the NFL, thanks to posting a respectable 244–144 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Yet he’s never seen postseason success, throwing one touchdown and six interceptions in losses in his only four career playoff games.
While most may think it’s a stretch to say Dalton’s career reaches Hall of Fame status, Sanders is clearly impressed with his new backup quarterback’s résumé.
