Panthers injury updates: WR Robby Anderson out due to hamstring

Robby Anderson’s first year as a Carolina Panther was, perhaps, his best yet. His second year, however? Eh, not too great so far.

After having to hear his name in trade rumors around draft time back in the spring, the sixth-year wideout has had to deal with numerous absences from the practice field this summer. Anderson is now dealing with a hamstring injury, according to head coach Matt Rhule, a setback he sustained from last week’s practices.

The good news, though, is that Rhule expects Anderson’s situation to be a “short-term one.” He was off to the side today, during the first of two joint practices with the Baltimore Ravens, working the exercise bike.

Also close to an apparent return is linebacker Denzel Perryman. Perryman was seen, for the first time since the opening day of training camp, carrying pads on the premises of Wofford College.

The seventh-year defender is currently nursing himself back from a lower-body injury. Despite Rhule’s skepticism earlier in the week about Perryman’s status, seeing him on Wednesday was a good sign for one of Carolina’s projected starting linebackers.
