Panthers rookie quarterback Will Grier got pummeled by the Saints’ pass rush today and is now back in the locker room after sustaining a foot injury on a sack by Cameron Jordan. The team has listed Grier as doubtful to return and Kyle Allen has come into the game to replace him.
If Grier’s day is over, he finished with a brutal line: 1/8 for four yards, one interception and a passer rating of zero. He was sacked once and hit three times, but it feels a like a lot more than that.
For what it’s worth, Allen has played well against the Saints in his two career starts against them.
He faces an impossible task, though. The Saints lead 28-0 midway through the second quarter.
