Panthers injury updates: James Bradberry, Vernon Butler questionable vs. Packers

Injuries have been a big theme for the Carolina Panthers this year. Cam Newton and Kawann Short are both on IR and the offensive line has seen a lot of missed games from projected starters.

Heading into their Week 10 matchup with the Packers, there are a couple more question marks.

The team’s complete injury report for the week is now out. Cornerback James Bradberry sat out with a groin issue on Wednesday and Thursday and was a limited participant in practice on Friday. He is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. If Bradberry can’t play, the Panthers have to figure out who to put on Davante Adams. The individual matchups may vary some, but expect Ross Cockrell to play a bigger role if No. 24 is out.

Defensive tackle Vernon Butler has fared well in Short’s absence, but he’s also questionable with a back injury. Carolina already has a backup plan here. Earlier this week they brought back Wes Horton to take Newton’s spot on the roster. If he plays, perhaps Horton can help turn around the team’s issues with defending the run.

Rookie offensive tackle Greg Little is the only player who has been ruled out for the Panthers. The good news is he was upgraded to a limited participant and Ron Rivera said he took another step towards getting out of the concussion protocol, today. Sixth-round pick Dennis Daley has done exceedingly well in Little’s place at left tackle, though.
