Panthers injury updates: Cam Newton, Greg Little, Trai Turner, Eric Reid

The Panthers held a light practice today (no pads or helmets) as they get ready to travel to London for Sunday’s divisional match with the Buccaneers. While there won’t be any official injury report out until tomorrow, there are a few interesting notes to pass along from the media.

Quarterback Cam Newton made his first appearance at practice in several weeks. He showed up on his bike and wasn’t wearing a walking boot.

However, if Newton did practice it was not in the view of the media, per Joe Person at the Athletic.

Before you get too excited, coach Ron Rivera says Newton has been ruled out for this week’s game and he will not travel to London.

Seeing Newton back in any form is a welcome development, but this is still a team plagued by injuries.

Brendan Marks at the Charlotte Observer reports that offensive linemen Greg Little and Trai Turner are still not participating. Neither were defensive backs Eric Reid and Natrell Jamerson. On the bright side, tight end Chris Manhertz and cornerback Donte Jackson seem to be making progress.

Jackson has missed the last two games with a groin injury.
